The department oversees museums and galleries, sports facilities, parks and gardens, arts activities, the library network and leisure opportunites for children and young people. Cultural and Leisure Services is one of 10 Glasgow City Council service providers working towards implementing the city’s social and economic strategies, in line with national priorities. Its has several key objectives and in particular it aims to develop the contribution of culture in achieving social inclusion, education and lifelong learning, improved health, increased access and economic development and regeneration. The Arts Development Team, Glasgow City Council manages a number of schemes in the arts. The Libraries, Information and Learning, Glasgow City Council covers the library provision in the city. The Museums and Galleries, Glasgow City Council department manages a number of large collections and exhibition spaces.
