This Việt Nam Television Film Centre (VFC) training programme was established as a pilot project in 2003 by VFC Director Nguyễn Khải Hưng as part of a wider master plan to give VTV programming a facelift. As television hours are extended and the need for more home-grown product grows, VFC has found it difficult to meet the demand simply because of the dearth of new young acting talent. The school offers a three-month certificate course in television acting which focuses on practical skills. Course teachers include experienced Vietnamese actors such as Thanh Qúy, Thanh Tú, Hoàng Dũng and Như Quỳnh and directors such as Nguyễn Hữu Phần. Some 40 per cent of graduates from the course are selected for further training.
