Scottish Enterprise invests around £25 million in the development of Scotland's creative industries, to exploit the wealth of talent, skills and expertise in the sector. Its strategy, 'Creative Scotland: Shaping The Future', provides a framework for this investment, outlining four strategic priorities for the development of Scotland's creative industries for the next three to five years. These priorities are;
- to develop a dynamic business environment;
- to develop and expand the talent and skills base;
- to increase innovation;
- and enhance the international reputation of Scotland's creative industries.
Its strategic focus is on the digital content industries and it supports the following initiatives to grow this particular sector; the development of a digital media centre at Pacific Quay in Glasgow and a digital media park on Tayside, Dare to be Digital awards programme in Dundee, and the Proof of Concept, Scottish Enterprise fund encouraging universities to test the commercial potential of new research.
The strategy is delivered by the Creative Industries team at Scottish Enterprise with Creative Industries managers located in each of the LECs delivering at a local level.
