Scottish Screen allocates National Lottery funds in Scotland to develop feature scripts, help move them into production and to invest in feature production. It invests in shorts, low budget and medium budget features.
Funding for developing scripts and productions is often delivered through partnering film schemes in order to provide wide opportunities for filmmakers. Such partner schemes include;
Archive Live - a new scheme to promote the creative use of materials held in the Scottish Screen Archive
Bridging the Gap - a film scheme for creative documentary
Cineworks - Scotland's entry level short film scheme
Fast Forward Features - for the creation of feature length drama
New Found Land - a television production scheme
New Found Films - to support two feature-length dramas
Tartan Shorts - Scotland's most established short film production scheme
Tartan Smalls - for production of new work for children
This Scotland - a digital documentary production scheme.
Scottish Screen allocates about £3m per year for film production through National Lottery funds under the following schemes;
Feature Production Funding (including Twenty First Films)
Short Film Production Funding
Company Development Funding
Project Development Funding
Script Development Funding
Short Film Award Scheme
Distribution and Exploitation Support.
