An artists’ parade and performance form an integral part of the celebrations for Việt Nam’s National Day celebration on 2 September each year. The two events take place at historic Ba Đình Square, showcasing as many as 3,000 artists from troupes at both professional and grass-roots levels. The parade comprises traditional music, traditional dance, puppetry, ballet, circus, tuồng (classical drama), chèo (popular opera), dân ca (folk songs) and cải lương (reformed theatre), whilst the performance features traditional and revolutionary songs, dances and games performed by famous national artists such as Quang Thọ, Trung Kiên, Trần Hiếu, Quí Dương and choreographers Chu Thúy Quỳnh and Ngọc Canh.
