The Việt Nam Fund for Supporting Literary and Artistic Creativity was established in 1995 by the Việt Nam Union of Literature and Arts Associations with the financial support of the Council of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front (Mặt Trận Tổ Quốc Việt Nam). With a brief which extends throughout the country, it supports creative development in the field of literature and arts, providing both material and intellectual assistance to artists, educators and researchers, particularly in times of hardship or difficulty, and encouraging international exchange and friendship through literature and the arts. The Fund offers small monetary grants to Vietnamese citizens for literary and artistic creativity and scholarships to Vietnamese citizens for overseas study and research. It also undertakes assessments of literary and artistic works, provides an information service on literature and arts and introduces artists and writers and their work to the general public, both at home and abroad. The Fund is actively seeking financial support to increase the scope of its activities and offers a range of benefits to organisations and individuals who are prepared to sponsor its activities.
