The Bắc Cạn Provincial branch of the Việt Nam Union of Literature and Arts Associations finds its origins in the former Bắc Thái Provincial Literature and Arts Association, established in 1987. It became a separate association in 1997 following the division of Bắc Thái Province into Bắc Cạn and Thái Nguyên Provinces. The Association currently has around 95 members.
