Established in 1988, FPT is the largest informatics corporation in Việt Nam and now one of three licenced IXPs. In recent years FPT’s turnover has developed continuously with an annual average growth rate of 40 per cent. In 2002 the corporation’s turnover recorded 1,515 billion VNĐ (cUS$96.5 million), of which software and services accounted for 145.66 billion VNĐ (cUS$9.2 million) 9.6 per cent of the corporation’s total turnover). With a staff complement of nearly 1,100 people, FPT has actively participated in many important state-run information technology projects, working directly with the Government Office, the Ministry of the Police, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Finance (General Department of Taxation, State Treasury, General Department of Enterprises, Ministry of Finance Office, General Department of Investment), the Ministry of Education and Training, the General Department of Customs, the General Department of Statistics, the General Department of Post, the Aviation Department, Petrolimex, state banks, commercial banks, joint venture banks and foreign banks, production and service companies and joint venture companies. FPT’s technological partners partners around the world include IBM, HP, Microsoft, Toshiba, Cisco, Oracle, Motorola and Samsung. In addition, FPT offers after-sale services and functions as the official maintenance agent (hardware and software) for many corporations in Việt Nam, including IBM, HP, Motorola, Samsung), providing its customers with the world’s lastest products and services in information and telecommunication technology. The main hubs of FPT are in Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City.
