In accordance with Prime Ministerial Decision 156/TTG of 15/3/1997, a total of 830 hectares (including 445 hectares of water) have been allocated for the construction of a Việt Nam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village on the banks of Đồng Mô Lake in Đồng Mô District, Hà Tây Province, some 37 kilometres west of Ha Noi. The park will comprise a village of ethnic minority houses (116 hectares, featuring a village of the Kinh ethnic group and a further 18 villages of ethnic groups from northern, central and southern Việt Nam complete with displays and demonstrations of ethnic cultures), an area dedicated to the country's World Heritage Sites (40 hectares), an area depicting the history and development of the Vietnamese nation (95 hectares), a culture and leisure centre (75 hectares), a hotel and service area (37 hectares) and a boating area (22 hectares). Located at the foot of Ba Vi Mountain, Đồng Mô Lake is an artificial lake of some 1,500 hectares with more than 20 islands which has long supplied water for the Sơn Tây area. An international 18-hole golf course was opened nearby in 1995.
