The Thái Nguyên Provincial branch of the Việt Nam Union of Literature and Arts Associations finds its origins in the former Bắc Thái Provincial Literature and Arts Association, established in 1987. It became a separate association in 1998 following the division of Bắc Thái Province into Thái Nguyên and Bắc Cạn Provinces. The Association currently has around 150 members.
