 The Thừa Thiên Huế Provincial branch of the Việt Nam Union of Literature and Arts Associations finds its origins in the former Bình Trị Thiên Provincial Literature and Arts Association, established in 1950. It became a separate association in 1991 following the establishment of Thừa Thiên Huế Province in place of the former Bình Trị Thiên Province. This Association currently has around 150 members, publishes the bimonthly Sông Hương Magazine and incorporates a number of smaller associations including the Thừa Thiên Huế Provincial Fine Art Association:
