Recently relocated to a new address, the Việt Nam Post Office Museum preserves a great deal of valuable documents on the history of the postal service from its establishment during the French colonial period through the independence wars up until the present day. Artefacts on view in the museum include an old bicycle and motor cycle used for carrying mail to the front during the war, the first fax machine and the first mobile phone. There are also many documents relating to the management of the postal services and an important collection of some 1,000 sets of over 3,000 different stamps dating from 1945, including the very first stamp issued by the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam in 1945 and the five drafts produced by stamp artist Huỳnh Thúc Kháng. Regrettably since few people know about the museum it sees very few visitors.
