The Việt Nam Folk Arts Association comprises a membership of almost 1,000 members whose task is to survey and collect data on the folk art of Việt Nam’s 54 ethnic groups. To date the Association has conducted 15,000 research projects on five major themes: terminology of folk art, fine arts, performing arts, customs and practices and traditional rites and festivals. Unfortunately due to lack of funds much of the Association’s work remains unpublished. The Association runs the Centre for the Development of Traditional Vietnamese Professions and publishes the monthly Nguồn Sáng (Light Source) Magazine
