The Norwegian Press Association is an umbrella organisation for all Norwegian mass media advising in matters of ethical and editorial-questions. The association aims to raise the ethical standard, work ethics and integrity in Norwegian mass media and to strengthen and protect the freedom of expression and freedom of the press.

The Norwegian Press Association can also give advice and make policy statements when the member organisations deem a united position on any given policy issue to be appropriate. However, the Norwegian Press Association can not make binding decisions on behalf of its members in business matters or in regards to work related issues between employer and employee.

The members of Norwegian Press Association are Norwegian Union of Journalists, Association of Norwegian Editors, Norwegian Media Businesses' Association, Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), TV 2, TV NORGE, TV 3, P4 Radio, Norsk Lokalradioforbund (NLR), Norske Fjernsynsselskapers Landsforbund (NFL) , Landslaget for Lokalaviser (LLA), Den Norske Fagpresses Forening (DNFF),  Norsk Forbund for Lokal-TV (NFL) and Norsk Ukepresse (NUP).
