This website is part of a larger online Cultural Profiles Project created and developed by Visiting Arts, the national agency promoting the flow of international arts into the United Kingdom. Working with software developer Librios Ltd, Visiting Arts has created a series of online profiles of various countries in order to encourage international cultural exchange and collaboration with the United Kingdom and the world.

The profiles are designed to faciliate professional networking to assist the work of individual artists and arts organisations, governmental bodies, national and international agencies seeking to develop international contacts and opportunities. The information is carefully structured in order to reveal the inter-relationships of the various organisations and builds up an overview which is both practical and in depth, including summaries of national cultural policy, detailed descriptions of the development and current trends in the cultural and contemporary arts sectors, details of funding sources, technical data on visual and performing arts venues to faciliate touring, contact information for many artists, arts organisations and information and support agencies.

In an age of globalisation, the Cultural Profiles Project is committed to the promotion of cultural and creative diversity and aims to provide in English the vital (and often difficult to find) information which encourages the widest possible access to and distribution of cultural, heritage and arts projects and organisations.
