The National Film Festival was launched in 1970. Held each time in a different location, the festival focuses on the award of Việt Nam’s equivalent of the Oscars, the Golden and Silver Kite Awards, which are awarded by the Việt Nam Film Association in a variety of categories, including feature film, documentary film, short film, scientific film and cartoons. The Festival attracts participation from many television stations and film studios.
