 Originally established in 1956 as the Việt Nam Film Studio (Xưởng phim Việt Nam), the Việt Nam Feature Film Studio has a long and illustrious history and is widely regarded as the leading film studio in Việt Nam. Despite its limited facilities and outdated equipment the studio has produced many of Việt Nam’s most important feature films, ranging from the pioneering ‘Together on the Same River’ (Chung một Dòng sông, 1959) to Hải Ninh’s ‘Child of Hà Nội’ (Em bé Hà Nội, 1975), Trần Vũ’s ‘Brothers’ (Anh và em, 1986), Nguyễn Xuân Sơn’s ‘Fairytale for Seventeen Year Olds’ (Chuyện cổ tích cho tuổi mười bảy, 1987) and Lưu Trọng Ninh’s ‘Đồng Lộc Junction’ (Ngã ba Đồng Lộc, 1997). |
