The government infrastructure for culture and information introduced in North Việt Nam during the 1950s and extended to the southern half of the country after Reunification in 1975 is still in place today. This infrastructure now comprises two key components – the state, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), and the Party, represented by the Việt Nam Union of Literature and Arts Associations and its constituent bodies.
