Việt Nam currently has over 120 major museum institutions in which to date some 4 million objects have been inventoried and preserved. These include five National Museums run by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; some 30 museum institutions managed by other ministries, mass organisations and agencies; and nearly 90 more regional museums which fall under the direct management of the country's 63 provincial and municipal authorities.
