OVERVIEW
Students 2 (MOCI)Universal secondary education in Việt Nam includes music and fine art classes and general cultural studies but, as elsewhere in Asia, the intensity of the existing curriculum precludes the teaching of other arts subjects.
Arts training at secondary level thus remains the preserve of the provincial and municipal secondary vocational arts and culture schools, which offer specialist training in both traditional and contemporary performing and visual arts, taught alongside general studies, from grade 6 (11 years) to grade 12 (17 years).
Gifted students may continue their studies at tertiary level in the vocational culture and arts colleges (trường cao đẳng văn hóa nghệ thuật), which offer programmes of study leading to the award of certificates and diplomas, or the vocational culture and arts universities (trường đại học văn hóa nghệ thuật), which offer programmes of study leading to the award of Bachelors and Masters degrees for students aged 18 and over. A number of general universities also offer arts and culture-related courses.
There follows a guide to tertiary arts training courses, organised by subject:
