Domestic tourism
Lang Co (Tim Doling)Domestic tourism has seen a steady rise in recent years, rìsing from just under 11.3 million in 2000 to over 29 million in 2005.
Thanks to steady economic development, Vietnamese spending on leisure has increased along with disposable incomes and living standards. Many new tour companies have been established to meet the need of this growing market.
As yet outbound tourism remains limited due to the high cost of travel and visa restrictions, though at the time of writing group tours to neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Thailand, China and Hong Kong are becoming increasingly popular.
