The educational library network belonging to the Ministry of Education and Training comprises over 200 university and college libraries and a further 17,000 libraries and book cases in primary and secondary schools around the country.

In addition a further 60 libraries are attached to research and scientific study institutes, and another c 200 library and information centres operate within ministries, government committees and other state institutions.

The armed forces of Việt Nam also have their own library network, which comprises the Central Library of the People’s Army (Thư viện Trung Ương Quân đội) and a network of branch libraries located in army, navy and air force bases throughout the country.
