Secondary Certificate training programmes in records and archives management are provided by the Department’s own two schools - the Central Secondary School of Archives and Office Skills 1 (Trường Trung học Văn thư Lưu trữ Trung ương 1) in Hà Nội and the Central Secondary School of Archives and Office Skills 2 (Trường Trung học Văn thư Lưu trữ Trung ương 2) in Hồ Chí Minh City. Over 50 per cent of staff working in regional archive centres around the country have graduated from one or other of these institutions.

Both the State Records and Archives Department of Việt Nam and its two secondary schools also conduct intensive short-term and in-service training courses on records management and archives for staff of all institutions and organisations.

Four-year BA and two-year MA programmes in Archival Studies and Office Management are also offered by the Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management of the Hà Nội University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Khoa Lưu trữ học và Quản trị văn phòng, Trường Đại học Khoa học Xã hội và Nhân văn, Hà Nội).
