OVERVIEW:
Other arts festivals
Glasgay!Outside Edinburgh in August, Scotland is remarkably well-resourced in festivals of all types, and covering all cultural sectors.
These range from the major multi-form festivals such as the Merchant City Festival, Glasgay! and Burns an' A' That! to sector-specific festivals devoted to music, theatre, visual arts, film, literature and multimedia work.
The visual arts are featured at many multi-form festivals, but are specifically the focus of a range of events, including the Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Visual Art and the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Art Annual Exhibition.
Apart from the world-renowned Edinburgh International Film Festival, Scotland also boasts several regional film festivals, including the Glasgow Film Festival, the Discovery Film Festival, the Deaf Focus Film Festival and the Highland Mountain Film Festival.
Finally, Scotland hosts numerous literature festivals, including Word: University of Aberdeen Writers' Festival and its sister festival Wordfringe, the Isle of Bute Poetry Festival, the Scottish Book Town Festival in Wigtown, Aye Write! Glasgow's Book Festival, the Cromarty Book Festival, the Inverness Book Festival and The Word's Out! in Perth.
The above are just a small selection of the festivals offered - please consult our extensive database of KEY CONTACTS in this sector.
